  Our Spring 2008 Rose Show - America's Pastime: Baseball and Roses!

Our Rose Show starts early - - 6:30 a.m. for the exhibitors who arrive to prep and enter their roses.

A Father and Son team entered lovely blooms and had several 'wins' in the exhibiting tables and in the arrangements. Thomas Bolden Sr. and Jr. work on their roses.

As the time for judging draws closer, the Trophy Table is prepared.

Jolene Adams and her helpers place all the trophies on the table, arrange the class cards, and get ready to place the winning entries in a place of pride.

Before meeting the Judges, the clerks listen carefull to Barbara Wilson as she gives them their instructions.

The Judges carefully consider each entry in each class and select only the best as winners.

Gail Carpenter and Marianne Jameson are selecting blue ribbon winners while Gregg Cook assists as their clerk.

All of the blue ribbon winning Hybrid Tea roses are competing for "Queen of Show". The judges must chose the very best.

Marvin Rudd, Jennifer Galli, Bob Parker (bending down) and Sandi Parker are choosing the best 10 roses to further compete in this class.

The excitement was intense as the winners were chosen and moved to the Trophy Table. The Best Floribunda Spray was' Margaret Merril', exhibited by Gregg Cook. This entry also won BEST IN SHOW.

After the judging is completed, the public is invited to come and see the roses. Hundreds of people filled the rooms and many stayed to purchase roses at the end of the show.

Our Show Chair was Phillis May. She is happy to sell the roses to members of the public after the show closes.

  East Bay Rose Society holds a Spring Rose Show each year. The public is invited to attend from 1:00 - 4:00 PM, first Sunday in May, at the Lakeside Park Garden Center in Oakland.
