Pruning Seminar at McDonnell Nursery - January 26, 2008

Jim Donoso,Martine Ham, and Jolene Adams conducted a two-hour seminar at McDonnell Nursery in Moraga.

The nursery dedicated a covered patio to the event, with coffee and scones for the audience to munch, and space heaters throughout to help ward off the January chill.

There was approximately 40 people in attendance.

The audience took notes and asked many questions during the seminar - we covered pruning, planting, dormant sprays, feeding, watering, insects, diseases, and tools to use in caring for roses.

The nursery provided plant materials to work with and had a display of products for roses.

Jolene Adams demonstrates how to prune a floribunda.

She is wearing long gloves (Gauntlet Gloves) to protect her hands and arms.

She is clearing out the center of the bush and will begin removing dead and spindly growth, shaping the bush to provide a pleasing growth habit.
